# domain naming rules

Letters A-Z, a-z, digits 0-9 and the "-" character
Must start with a letter
Between 3 and 63 characters long
.ID only: at least 5 characters (2–4 characters at a special fee)
Clearly related to the organization’s name
No geographic names
Must not infringe intellectual property rights or be discriminatory (SARA)

Activation and document verification for *.id domains

*.id domains (other than plain .id) stay active for 3 days while your documents are verified. If verification has not happened after 3 days, the domain is cancelled and cannot be used. Send your documents by email or upload them yourself through the domain panel.

Special requirement for .co.id

If your business license (SIUP), company registration (TDP), deed or similar documents are still being processed, attach a letter of confirmation or statement from a notary.

Identity card

An expired identity card (KTP) cannot be used to register a domain. A foreign passport, KITAS or KIPEM cannot be used in place of the identity card.

Intellectual property

Domain names must respect intellectual property rights, patents and trademarks. If you use a well-known name or brand, attach a letter of permission from the company that owns it.
